KARAMFILA SIDEROVA-BINEVA
(b. 1979, Bulgaria)

Based in Sofia, Karamfila Siderova is a figurative painter whose practice focuses on the clinical deconstruction of cultural archetypes, primarily by using monumental oil on canvas and large-scale watercolors. An alumna of the National Academy of Arts (NAA, 2006) with a specialization in classical arts (Master Degree) and Art Theory, she integrates academic tradition with ruthless conceptual analysis.
In her practice, Karamfila Siderova treads the fine line of kitsch, combining classical academic painting with surrealist twists. Utilizing a poster-like, succinct visual language, she transforms traditional themes and archetypes into conceptual provocations.
Relying on psychoanalysis, her work explores the inner worlds of authentic human essence - the raw self hidden deep beneath the mask of the social role each of us is forced to play to survive in the external world.
